Description and Function:
This attachment is what every lawn mower wants to be when it grows up! This large floating unit measures approximately 6 feet wide by 6 feet long, and has a 6-foot very strong forestry mower blade underneath that will cut through almost anything – it’s hydraulically powered off the bobcat’s diesel engine – so it’s very powerful! Almost unstoppable! It will cut down not only tall grasses and weeds without even slowing a bit, but brush, shrubs and woody plants too – even trees with trunks up to 4 inches in diameter!

Comment on Pricing:
As noted, this attachment is not designed for urban residential lawns, but rather fields, farms, bush areas, overgrown lots, etc. A smaller area would not likely be cost-effective, but for properties close to an acre in size to 10 or even dozens of acres to cut/clear, it is incredibly practical and cost-effective. Depending on the terrain and amount and type of growth the speed can be from half an acre per hour cut (typically) to a couple acres per hour. A huge money-saver over almost any other option.
The unit can be damaged if concrete, stone, steel or other such objects are struck - and depending on your site and how overgrown it is (remembering the operator usually can't see whats on the ground ahead of him, obscured by brush and leaves), that posibility is very real. Customers should do what they can beforehand to clear such objects away and/or flag them for us. Generally the damage is limited to a broken shear pin or dented/damaged blades - but the costs for any such damages regardless, will be added to the bill.
Applications & Purpose:
Anyone with a large overgrown or wild are that needs taming or cleaning up will benefit by the use of this attachment. A lawnmower, no matter how big and powerful will be no match - both in speed, ruggedness and flexibility.
Municipalities and highway departments will use this on highway shoulders, open fields, including for weed management, etc.
People with farms (ie horse farms) or large overgrown fields or brush areas to be cleared need this tool.
Developers or owners of brownfield sites and other open overgrown urban properties will need this service to cost-effectively avoid municipal bylaw fines (for long grass) and keep their properties in good order.
This attachment is not meant as a lawn mower for use on normal residential lawns - it does not have the capacity to adjust the depth (cuts at about 3" from the ground), and its blades are not designed for a clean cut that one would expect for a nicely-finished lawn. Also, it is meant for larger properties (the types you would measure in acres, not in square feet, typically) and would be impractical for smaller and fenced-in areas.
Compatibility:
This attachment works best with any of our full-size bobcats (ideally a 6 foot, but a 5-foot would work too); they can be rubber tired, or better yet, tracked loaders (in case of poor traction - rutted, swamped/wet or sloped areas), and where the potential of a flat (due to unseen jagged debris could be run over) is high.
The unit requires the universal quick-attach coupler and auxilliary hydraulics, with the standard flush-faced couplers.
Availability:
We do not have many of this attachment, only one or two of them are shared by a number of branches, so be sure to request it well in advance.
