Bobcat Service
Machine-with-Operator Service
Description and Function:
The rock grapple simply attaches to the bobcat like any  other attachment, and with the auxilary hydraulics the operator is able to grab, and lift the object (usually a rock), drive the machine forward and position the grapple in place, spinning the grapple until the angle is just right and then lowers and releases it perfectly in place.
No dangerous chains and slings to mess with, greatly reducing potential for injury and an incredible amount of time.  This is the best and only way to handle large, heavy and awkward objects.
The claws open to 38 inches, and can close on objects as small as 3 inches.  It can handle loads up to 1500 lbs. It even rotates in either direction 180-degrees.
Besides rock, it can be used for other objects, including logs and debris - for demolition, clean-up, landclearing, logging and tree work.
Price:
$ 300 per day - rental rate
(additional to hourly charge for the basic bobcat that it needs to run it, with operator)

Comment on Pricing:
This is one of our most expensive attachments for rent with our bobcat-
and-operator service.  And for good reason.  The unit is very expensive to purchase, and requires a good deal of skill to operate, and there are not many of them at all in the area.  But the fact is that its value can be measured in the savings found in doing a project using it, rather than doing it the old and dangerous way - using chains and slings!
Messing with such outdated methods is not only dangerous and tedious, but it is so incredibly slow in comparison to using the rock grapple.  Try it - it will save you so much money on your project!
Applications & Purpose:
As noted, the main users of this attachment would be landscapers and those primarily in hardscape construction.
Also useful to those in forestry, logging, tree work, arborists, and anyone moving logs or other long, awkward and heavy objects (moving/laying sewer and similar pipes may be another application).
Demolition, materials handling, clean-up and land clearing are other usages of this very handy attachment.
Have heavy landscape natural stone to set in place?  Accent pieces that need placing in hard to reach areas?  Or building a rock garden or retaining wall with armour stones?  This is the most efficient and safe way to do it.  No using forks and dropping the rocks, or trying to nudge them into the correct position.  No chains or straps or other potentially hand-crushing and tedious, time-consuming methods with this attachment around.

Compatibility:
This attachment works with any of our full-size bobcats, and ideally as big a machine as possible, for the greater lift capacity.  While the attachment itself is rated to lift and clamp loads of up to 1500 pounds, the machine must be able also to lift that, plus the weight of the attachment itself (approximately 500 lbs).  So, while a 5-foot class skid steer could work, a 6 footer is ideal, and due to the greater lift capacity and traction in poorer conditions of a track loader, those are recommended over a rubber tired machine, typically.
The unit requires the universal quick-attach coupler and auxilliary hydraulics, with  the standard flush-faced couplers, with which all our larger machines come equipped.

Availability:
We do not have many of this attachment, only one or two of them are shared by a number of branches, so be sure to request it well in advance.

Our thanks to AMI Attachments for the use of this video.  (Our own video demonstrating this attachment will be forthcoming once we finish its production.)  This video demonstrates a unit similar to but not exactly the same as the ones we stock.  It will help somewhat in demonstrating its usefulness, particularly when you note the attachment's usage when hooked up to the skid steers and track loaders, shown at :04, :18, and :25-35, :40, etc.  (We don't have one for a mini-excavator at present, as is shown in other parts of the video).

Rock grapples at work
These grapples work very well doing forrestry and other tree work, for tree services and arborists
Other uses: land clearing, demolition, clean-up, handling pipes and long/large objects
Other methods are slow, clumsy and dangerous
