Limited-access machine
Great for landscapers and waterproofers, anyone working on residential sites with tight access, small spaces, particularly to the back yard. Ramp it down and run it under the house when lowering basements/underpinning. Or industrial jobsites where clearances are limited or when working indoors. Tiny units, but will outwork 3 manual labourers on shovels.
No attachments are available, but there is a choice of 10" and 16" wide buckets.
Typical sized mini-ex
This is the machine size most of the utility installers are most frequently seen using. Waterproofers too, landscapers, and other contractors in both commercial and residential applications. Has good power, maneuverability and small-space access. This is the go-to machine for most jobs, unless you require a bigger size. No attachments are available for this class, other than some upgrade models with hydraulic clamp/thumb, and choice of buckets: 10-12" and 16" wide..

This class of machine is appropriately called “Maximum” because they are among the largest units still to be considered "mini"-excavators. Big enough to handle most excavating tasks efficiently on commercial jobsites, but at only 5 to 6 feet wide, it's compact enough to be useful on many residential sites.
perfect for pools, additions, and trenching for waterlines, water/sewer hook-ups, etc., many with dig depths of 9 to 10 feet (and some up to 11 1/2 feet), depending on the exact model.
Compatible with many attachments (athough not are available through rentals - some only through with-operator service).
