Full-sized machine
This class of machine is appropriately called “Maximum” because they are among the largest units still to be considered "mini"-excavators.  Big enough to handle most excavating tasks efficiently on commercial jobsites, but at only 5 feet wide, it's compact enough to be useful on many residential sites.
perfect for pools, additions, and trenching for waterlines, water/sewer hook-ups, etc.  Order one with the telescoping boom feature to extend its dig depth to a remarkable 13-feet - and that on only a 5’ wide machine! (See next) Will carry most all available attachments.
Limited-access machine
Great for landscapers and waterproofers, anyone working on residential sites with tight access, small spaces, particularly to the back yard. Ramp it down and run it under the house when lowering basements/underpinning.  Or industrial jobsites where clearances are limited or when working indoors. Tiny units, but will outwork 3 manual labourers on shovels. Not suitable for use with attachments.
Typical sized mini-ex
This is the machine size most of the utility installers are most frequently seen using.  Waterproofers too, landscapers, and other contractors in both commercial and residential applications.  Has good power, maneuverability and small-space access.  This is the go-to machine for most jobs, unless you require a bigger size.  Not suitable for use with many attachments.
Mid-sized machine
This class of machine is perfect for applications that require a bit more power or dig depth, yet are still limited for space. Compact in size for limited-access, but with greater dig depth capacity and power
Compatible with some attachments, various bucket sizes.
