Sub-point 3: Site Details (& reminders)
additional details -
This point, which we call Site Details, is basically a grouping of a few assorted reminders on the part of the operator to you, and a few possible questions, clarifications, and confirmations, just to be absolutely sure no little improtant detail has been missed (that could prove to be a big problem). So, depending on what he sees already on the work order booking form as information provided by you, and with his own professional experience, it may give rise to some of the following ideas being covered:
The operator may ask you just to clarify any detail he sees on the booking order that he isn’t clear on.
He’ll probably check whether it is you he is going to meet on site first thing, or maybe it will be someone else – one of our site supers or lead men. If so, give him that person’s number so that they can make contact if need be
Parking may be an issue, depending on the nature of the site (ie a large industrial/commercial/institutional site, or condo tower or residential subdivision site, or similar); or it may be that parking in some downtown areas is very difficult for a truck and trailer and it would be in your best interests to look out for and save a few spots beforehand to make it more convenient for him to have his rig nearby the site for easy loading/unloading, access to tools, fuel, attachments and so forth. Alternatively, if he is up the block, around the corner, or worse, it will just cost you more time, and money.
The operator may double check on any other details or questions that come to mind. For example: your machinery ordered for task that you indicated you wanted to do, access issues into the site, versus the size of machines ordered, and so on.
Any other questions that come to the operator’s mind based on what he sees on the booking form provided by the dispatchers dependent on the information provided by you, the customer at the time of your booking (bearing in mind that this is all the operator has to go on, having in most cases never having seen the jobsite)
He’ll also probably use the opportunity to remind you about not forgetting to bring along the locate papers and your chequebook
