Description and Function:
This is a custom-made bucket, specifically for us and our specifications and design for the purpose of ripping up asphalt pavement and the efficient handling of it - loading the slabs and chunks smoothly into a bin or dump truck.
True, a normal general-purpose dirt bucket - with teeth or without (although better with teeth) - could do the job, the fact is that this special bucket does it so much faster and cleaner.
What are its features? It has teeth, configured for getting under the pavement effectively, and also with low/open sides the pavement can come up in wide slabs, much wider than the bucket (or rolls - in hot weather), allowing for a bigger, wider section to be taken up at a time. The final feature is the grapple, with non-piercing tips meant to steady the large chunks in the bucket without spilling before dumping into the bin or dump truck.
A much better bucket to use for ripping up asphalt driveways and other paved areas than a basic bobcat bucket. This attachment is specifically made for this purpose – a real money and time saver.

Comment on Pricing:
We would recommend trying this grapple just once - if you are a paver or landscaper, custom home builder, or anyone that needs to rip up asphalt on a regular basis. Trying it once will convince you of its value, we are sure. The time saved and tidy job done and other noted efficiencies will far outweigh the cost of the rental of the unit.
Applications & Purpose:
This attachment has been manufactured for us for the specific purpose of ripping up and carrying asphalt. So it is a useful tool for landscapers, hardscapers/interlock installers, patterned concrete and other types of pavers.
Other benefits of note - besides the significant cost savings to be acheived due to the speed of the asphalt removal process when using this bucket, also note that the placement of the asphalt pieces into the bin or dumptruck is done in more controlled way, reducing the space typically wasted when the chunks are dropped in hap-hazzardly (as is normal with a normal non-grapple bucket); and also the tidy way in which the bucket design allows for the ripping up and handling of the old asphalt, a lot less of the existing base is disturbed, enabling the re-use of it in many cases, if that is desired.
Compatibility:
This attachment is most effective when used on a full-size bobcat (5 or 6 foot classes). Almost all of our skid steers of that size are compatibile with the bucket (requires auxiliary hydraulics).
Availability:
We have only one prototype unit at present, but anticipate ordering more so that all branches will be stocking at least one, in the near future.
